This course will discuss optometry’s role in managing various ocular surgical procedures and the conditions that accompany them. Peri-operative and post-operative management, pearls, and insights will provide the attendee with the confidence to tackle many of the ocular surgical procedures that enter our clinics.

The lecture will review tear film function in maintaining a healthy ocular surface and focus on incorporating diagnostic strategies that examine the meibomian gland function, the tear film, and the lids in routine practice helping the eye doctor optimize treatment of dry eye disease patients.

Ocular disease is traditionally managed with topical pharmaceutical agents, but many times more is needed to get complete resolution.  This course will cover a variety of oral therapeutic options for
patients that need more than just topical treatment.  At the end of this course the OD will gain confidence in prescribing a variety of oral therapeutic agents.

This course focuses on a variety of unique anterior segment cases that may show up in your clinic. We will discuss how to identify, treat, and manage each case using a case-based format, along with audience participation.

Glaucoma Update: Pharmaceutical Therapies and the Investigative Horizon – 1 hr. NJSBO TPA Credit PENDING / CE Broker PENDING
This course provides optometric physicians with a comprehensive update on exciting developments within the glaucoma space. The FDA clinical trial process will be explained and currently approved topical hypotensive agents will be reviewed. Investigational molecules and novel delivery platforms will be introduced and discussed. The role of Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) within the interventional model of glaucoma management will be emphasized and non-traditional treatment options explored.

Ocular urgency or emergency? You make to call! This course uses a grand-rounds style of presentation to review the various etiologies of vision loss that can present in the optometric exam lane. Sight and life-threatening conditions will be covered and the appropriate ancillary testing and referral timeline will be provided. Remember, “it’s not rare if it’s in your chair”.

Hello Darkness My Old Friend: A Mental Health Primer for Optometric Physicians - 1 hr. NJSBO TPA Credit PENDING / CE Broker PENDING
America’s optometric physicians are uniquely poised to facilitate timely referrals that may aid in quelling America’s current mental health crisis. Depressive and anxiety disorders will be discussed alongside the ocular side effects of psychiatric drugs.

This course provides optometric physicians a comprehensive review of oral medications commonly used in clinical practice, including controlled substances. Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics will be explained and factors that affect drug metabolism will be highlighted. Mechanism of action (MOA) and common side effects will be covered, and antibiotic stewardship will be emphasized.

Ready to put your diagnostic skills to the test? This course utilizes a grand-rounds style of presentation to discuss a variety of glaucoma cases identified by the optometric community at large. Each unique case features relevant ophthalmic findings and diagnostic testing while focusing on the pathophysiology and, in some cases, the epidemiology of underlying or concurrent systemic disease.

Come along for an exciting journey of retina coding and cases! The Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding system will be clearly explained so you can feel confident billing 99- codes. Age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) and diabetic retinopathy will be discussed with a focus on diagnostic test interpretation, appropriate referral timeline, and current treatments. Real-world clinical cases will highlight the myriad of ways that the various stages of retinal disease may present in the optometric exam lane.

Cerebral vascular accidents affect the brain in many aspects.  This course will present examples of how it impacts the ability to use peripheral vision efficiently.

Visual Field Technology Workshop - 2 hrs. NJSBO Regular Credit PENDING / CE Broker PENDING / AOA-CPC PENDING
This interactive workshop will familiarize you and your staff with interesting cases and reasons to run a visual field and how to interpret them.  We will be addressing the advances in technology including AI software and the newer head mounted equipment and the best instructions and modifications to run the test most accurately.

New Innovations in the Optical Workshop - 2 hrs. NJSBO Regular Credit PENDING / CE Broker PENDING / AOA-CPC PENDING
This interactive workshop will familiarize you and your staff with new lens and optical options to advance your practice and improve patient care. In conjunction with standard education, there will be stations with hands on experience and support with the Meta glasses, the Nuance glasses, Neurolens, and the Stellest lens.
