NJSOP Key Person Program

We’re looking for NJSOP members who are interested in building relationships with their district legislators - where they live and/or work. The goal of this NJSOP Key Person Program is to foster familiarity and trust between lawmakers and optometrists while helping share accurate information about the profession.

The time commitment is minimal. NJSOP key people are asked to attend one or two local legislative events per year, where there is a brief opportunity to connect in-person with legislators. NJSOP key people may also be asked to take part in occasional call-to-action email campaigns (typically a single-click effort) and to share these messages with others who support optometry. NJSOP will host at least one annual NJSOP Key Person Program check-in Zoom. NJSOP key people are encouraged to attend NJSOP Legislative Committee quarterly meeting

Because these are local legislators, you may also have informal opportunities to connect with them in your community.

We have created short clips to highlight the importance of the NJSOP Key Person Program and the impact of organized optometry advocacy on the profession and patient care in New Jersey. We hope they inspire our members to get involved and join the program. Click the links below to learn more.
