Interested in Becoming Board Certified?

A little background

Board Certification is a voluntary process that establishes standards that demonstrate that the doctor of optometry has exceeded the basic requirement(s). It provides assurance that a doctor of optometry maintains the appropriate knowledge, skills and experience needed to deliver quality patient care in optometry.

The American Board of Optometry (ABO) was founded by the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, American Optometric Student Association and the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry and  incorporated in 2009 to oversee the process for board certification of optometry. 

In June of 2011 the ABO will administer the first Board Certification Exam. If you're considering becoming Board Certified follow the links below to find out what steps you need to take!
